Who we are
Young Mission Finance was founded in 2026 by Shari Young, a mission-driven nonprofit finance leader based in Philadelphia with a passion for supporting organizations that create meaningful community impact.
Originally from Bay Shore, New York, Shari’s professional journey has been anything but linear, giving her a uniquely practical and adaptable approach to financial leadership. Early experience across both office and hospitality roles led her to discover a natural affinity for financial operations—particularly the structure, strategy, and storytelling behind the numbers. To deepen her expertise, she pursued studies at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, where she combined her interests in finance, administration, and the arts, ultimately finding her niche in nonprofit finance.
Shari began her nonprofit finance career with the International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA), where she managed financial operations for both a membership organization and its affiliated foundation. During her tenure, she led key system improvements, including a transition to Google Workspace, positioning the organization for a seamless shift to remote operations during the pandemic.
After relocating to Philadelphia, she continued her work in mission-driven finance at Mighty Writers, where she expanded her leadership across budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, and cross-functional operations. Her experience there strengthened her ability to support complex, multi-site organizations with diverse funding streams.
She currently continues this work with Mother of Mercy House, where she contributes to a smaller, community-focused organization and supports its mission through thoughtful, hands-on financial stewardship.
Through Young Mission Finance, Shari brings this depth of experience to other mission-driven organizations—helping them build strong financial foundations, gain clarity, and operate with confidence.
Outside of her professional work, Shari enjoys spending time with family and friends, caring for animals, exploring art and travel, and finding joy in everyday moments.
